Justice of the Peace courts are often the only court working people ever encounter. The intent for a JP court is to be an accessible, resolve legal matters promptly, and you can represent yourself without the need to hire an attorney.
As your judge, Dora will ensure court procedures will be explained in plain language, not legal jargon, so people understand their rights and responsibilities and not feel disadvantaged simply by lack of legal knowledge or an attorney. Fair treatment does not mean favoring one side – it means ensuring everyone is heard, the rules are applied evenly, and decisions are based on facts and law.
A courtroom should never feel hostile or inaccessible. It should be fair, orderly, and respectful.
